Hi.

Welcome to our blog. We document our adventures in travel, style, food and motherhood. Just a little lovely to get you through the day.

Autumn has surely arrived in Dundee, Scotland. Let’s be truthful though- it’s been autumn here all year, with the exception of a few bonus days. Am I right? Anyone with me?

I thought perhaps I could kick off a monthly post dedicated to all the things that are filling me with joy at the moment. Why not begin with October?!

With the weather getting a bit colder, and fewer daylight hours shining through our windows, I’ve gone ahead and dug up my favourite sad, sad music for the season. Damien Rice, you fill my heart with everything, since 2003. Sure, I love Damien all year long, but there’s something about October through February that leaves my soul thirsting for his aching vocals. 9 Crimes may or may not be the soundtrack to tonight's writing sesh.

We visited Chicago this month, and I was finally able to eat real tacos again. Full disclosure- if you're moving to Scotland, don't expect authentic Mexican tacos... even when places claim to be the real deal. They're not. I ate as many tacos as my belly could handle in Chicago, before returning to my taco-less life abroad. Sorry, no good pictures to share, though. See, when you've been taco hangry for 10 months, the priority has to be the taco eating. I did finally get a bit of Jeni's Ice Cream in this visit though. Twice. Oh- and all the gluten-free donuts from Do-Rite completed me.

Okay. I’ll write a post regarding the natural skincare products I’ve adopted into my [extremely relaxed] routine another day because I’m obsessed with all of them, but the absolute favourite skincare purchase from this month is the myMatcha stick from Cocokind. I’ve been wearing it daily, nightly, and in my frickin’ dreams!

My favourite moments this month included spending time with our incredible friends + family in Chicago. Nothing quite compares. Arriving back into Edinburgh after our visit, we were faced with the most beautiful autumn shades of the changing trees. Definitely happened while we were away! Lover and I also had oodles of fun dressing up for Halloween this weekend, and I’m sort of aching to wear our costume just one more time. Not likely, though. P.S. Here they call costumes "fancy dress," which confused me initially, as I tried to decide whether the Scottish would celebrate Halloween in costumes, or in their fanciest dress clothes.

This month, after a long break, I tuned into my Spanish novela once again- El Internado Laguna Negra. I started watching it accidentally, about a year ago, as I was exploring ways to further develop my Spanish comprehension skills. The show is a terrible smorgasbord of ridiculous events and details… and I CANNOT STOP until I reach the end. What’s the show about? Well, these 79 seasons of lunacy follow a group of 6ish [quite mature] teenage students through their boarding school years. From the start, we the viewers know that something freaky is happening at this school. Is it haunted? Oh, it seems there’s a vicious beast roaming the campus grounds. Or wait- what’s up with the little girl’s eyes glowing fluorescent in that one episode? Is she possessed? By what? Oh, we’re just going to move on to the next season and pretend that didn’t happen. Wait. Did they seriously just kill off one of the main characters? Wait. How is it that in this school of 400+ students (of, seemingly, only 6 year olds and 16 year olds), there are only about 5 teachers. Really? No helicopter parents at all? Their retention rate is shocking considering all the happenings. Anyway- I need to see this through, and I don’t NOT think you should check it out as well…

This month, I have backed off the crossfit classes a bit, focused on my yoga practice at Heart Space Yoga, and treated my sore self to some deep tissue massage. Low back and wrists are feeling so fresh! Also, my yoga instructor just published his first book, Kilted Yoga. Check it out!

Alright- I’m catching a MegaBus to London in a few hours and still have a few bits to do. Twelve hours on a bus- I’m sure there will be plenty of time to sleep!

A glimpse from our window. Dundee sunsets have been magical.
