tuesday intention: say "yes"
I'll be the first person to admit that I have a bad habit of saying "no" too often. Often I try to justify the "no" by coming up with what I convince myself are valid excuses. "I'm too tired." "I'll be up late." "I'll spend too much money." And, while all of those can be valid at one point or another, the more often we give those excuses, the more they just become habitual. In turn, we start to miss out on growth opportunities, new friendships, and exciting memories.
Last month, I decided to take my yoga teacher training journey to the next level. I enrolled myself in a 5 week program to learn a new class format: yoga sculpt. If you asked me last year at this time if I would have EVER even considered this, I would have said no. I would have come up with an excuse as to why I shouldn't do it instead of the reasons I should. Instead, I started focusing on why saying "yes" was the best decision and formed a list of positive reasons that trumped all of those nasty negative ones.
Saying "yes" to certain opportunities can be scary as hell. Essentially, you might be risking everything you have: financially, emotionally, and physically. Though, if we didn't risk these things, how rich and full would our lives really be? Would we still meet amazing people who share the same passions we do? Would we miss out on traveling the world with the people we love? Challenge yourself to start saying "yes" - "yes" to the things you know deep down inside scare the heck out of and at the same time offer a tiny glimmer of hope. It's that tiny glimmer that points you to your next adventure and who knows where it might take you.
