weekly intention: let yourself rest
I am not one for a jam packed lifestyle. I get stressed and tired pretty easily when I anticipate a long week ahead filled with obligations to family, friends, and my current yoga journey. As soon as I start adding multiple things to my daily and weekly agendas, I am already plotting moments of rest and relaxation. Some weeks, I am as relaxed as a lazy cat while others I find myself struggling. This week, I fall into the latter category.
Last week, my intention for you was to say YES. This week I'm reminding myself to make time for those moments of rest even if it's for a short time. Sometimes, though, it's important for us to stop and tell ourselves no. No to things that might add more stress and anxiety to our already busy weeks. No to an early morning workout because you just need that extra bit of rest. Sometimes we fight ourselves on making these decisions. We feel guilty for not accomplishing goals or letting ourselves down. We feel guilty for taking a day off of work to just collect our thoughts and ourselves.
Do yourself a favor. Schedule a massage. Take a hot bath tonight. Spend a half hour watching your favorite show. I promise you, once you start letting yourself rest, both physically and mentally, those busy weeks won't seem so daunting and scary.
